SCENE ONE - INT. KITCHEN
It is Halloween and the kitchen is all spooky and decorated
with spider webs, skeletons and pumpkins.
ANNABEL runs on in her witch costume.
ANNABEL
Boo!
Annabel puts her hands to her mouth and giggles.
ANNABEL
He, he. I hope I didn’t scare you.
Today is very special because it is
Halloween. I hope you’ve got your
costume. Do you like mine?
Annabel smiles and turns on the spot.
ANNABEL
Now lets see what we are making in
the kitchen today. Time to look in
Annabel’s Cookbook
(Singing)
Cookbook, whats should we cook,
lots wonderful things to eat.
Halloween time is extra sweet,
filling our bags with chocolate
treats. Treacle toffee, pumpkin
soup,witches brew or eyeball stew.
Lots of wonderful things to eat,
inside the Cookbook, lets...
have... a... peak!
Annabel skips over to the back of kitchen to the Cookbook.
ANNABEL
What shall we cook today?
The Cookbook opens and the pages flick and stop on Toffee
Apples.
ANNABEL
Toffee Apples, that sounds like
fun! BAKING TOOLS come out, come
out where ever you are? Out from
the cupboards and out from the
draws, up on to the table, ready to
make and bake once more.
All the baking tools come out from their homes and make
their way on to the big table in the middle with Annabel.

ANNABEL
Wait a minute? These aren’t baking
tools, these are baking ghouls. He
he he.
All the baking tools are dressed up with little Halloween
accessories and face paint.
ANNABEL
Okay everyone today we’re making
Toffee Apples, this is where you
dip an apple on a stick in melted
toffee.
The baking tools are excited and jump up and down clapping
their hands together, apart from Sieve. Sieve looks round
terrified.
EVERYONE BUT SIEVE
Wooooh.
ANNABEL
Is everything alright Sieve?
SIEVE
(Nervous and quiet)
Is it true that on Halloween all
the mon-st-sters come out.
ANNABEL
Don’t worry Sieve there is nothing
to be afraid of.
Sieve looks around again, holding her self close scared and
unsure. The Measuring Spoons all look at each other and
smile.
DESERT SPOON
(sarcastic)
Yeah, there is nothing to be afraid
of.
Sieve smiles a little bit in relief.
TEA SPOON
... except for the kitchen Ghost.
SIEVE
(Scared)
The Kitchen Ghost?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 3.
TEA SPOON
Yeah, a big white ghost haunts this
place, OoOoOoOoOoO.
Tea Spoon imitates a ghost movement and then sneaks off.
Sieve gets very nervous and looks around scared. The
Measuring Spoons find this very amusing.
ANNABEL
Don’t listen to them, there are no
such things as ghosts. Right come
on everyone lets get the
ingredients.
SIEVE looks relieved and then opens the cupboard and to her
horror out jumps Tea Spoon, who scares her and startles
everyone else apart from the Measuring Spoons who all
giggle.
MEASURING SPOON
He, he, he, he.
SIEVE
(annoyed)
That wasn’t funny.
Sieve is even more worked up.
WHISK
Oh just ignore them
Everyone reaches up to get the ingredients out of the
cupboard and put in the middle table.
ANNABEL
Okay we have sugar, butter, and
most importantly the apples. Now
first we need to measure out all
the ingredients.
Annabel pops in the sugar and butter in the weighing scales
and MEASURING JUG keeps an eye on the scale.
While this happens the Measuring Spoons wander off giggling.
MEASURING SPOON
He, he, he.
ANNABEL
(excited)
Now it’s time to make the toffee,
which is sweet and sticky.

All the other baking tools jump up and down excitedly, even
Sieve.
BAKING TOOLS
Wooooooh.
The Measuring Spoons watch them in the background with wry
smiles on their faces.
