Series idea 2

Another idea I thought of is one being about a big tree with animals living in it like it was a hollow tree house/flats, ground floor, middle and roof. So I thought of the characters being a red squirrel, owl, rabbit and mole. I would want the series to teach friendship, so kind of like Pepper Pig where they will have an adventure every day. Yet again in stop frame

I really struggled to come up with a style of character that they could all look the same, but in the end I finally came up with these characters below.

3 minute idea 2

My second idea I want to do is a puppy on a farm, playing with his toy ball. As he's playing, the ball gets lost and he has to go find it.

Here are some sketches.

I want this story to have all the puppets made from fabric, like 'Rastamouse' and 'Hana's Helpline'.

3 Minute idea

For my 3 minute I want to set the story in a place that I can easily visit to get research and a place that I have always liked. On being on a beach or by the sea.

I thought of an idea set in a lighthouse, with a lighthouse keeper. Here ares some sketches.

I was first gonna go with this one but I didn't think it had enough character. So in the end I went with this one below

I’ve done some quick sketches and designed a hedgehog that wears a gardening belt and little wellies, which I really like. So I’m going to do maybe something like five different animals that you would find in your garden like a rabbit, mole or maybe a robin. Once I come up with my other 2 ideas, I will come back to this and develop it further. At this moment in time I think this will be my favourite.

Series idea

One idea I have come up with is a children’s program on gardening. I’ve noticed recently how much people are trying to encourage children to eat well and go out and exercise. Also, I was watching the Chelsea Flower Show, and Alan Titchmarsh was saying that they are trying to get children interesting in gardening. So I want to do my series on this idea.

My idea will teach children to get outside and exercise, learn about life in their garden, teach team building with family and friends, give them a chance to learn how to look after and care for things. It will also benefit healthy eating because it will encourage children to grow and eat their own fresh veg. So it ticks all the boxes children series aim for.

The nearest to this idea out at the mo is ‘Mr. Bloom's Nursery’, which is live action with veg puppets.

I want my series to be in a garden but the characters to be common garden animals in stop frame, like a hedgehog and rabbit. Will research more on gardening animals. I think I would like the set to be a model but don't know if i should do the same for the veg its self, might keep them real. If they were real I could also maybe show the growth pattern of the veg through stop motion, like a picture of it every day to show how it will progress.

I’ve decided that I want to do a children’s series aimed at round about ages 2 – 12. I’m going to start off by looking at children’s series that are popular at the moment.

I’ve started looking at children’s programs on CBeebies and milkshake to see what is popular at the moment and why. This will help me understand what I need to aim for. One’s I watched were ‘Ethelbert the tiger’, ‘The Koala brothers’, ‘Little Charley Bear’, ‘Little Roberts’, ‘Octonauts’, ‘Pablo’, ‘Little Red Tractor’, ‘Pingu’, ‘Timmy Time’, ‘Peppa Pig’, ‘Roary, the racing car’, ‘Fifi, and the flowertots’, ‘Hana’s Helpline’ and ‘Rastamouse’. One of the things that I noticed is that all of them were cute animal characters, and they all try and teach children things. Like teaching them about how to make friends, about wildlife, to have fun and how to cope with problems.

These are ones I liked the most.

I started off by trying to get some inspiration. I have found a sight called Top 10 stop motion videos on YouTube http://mashable.com/2010/05/29/stop-motion-videos/. Just to see if there is anything I like. Some of these I have seen before like ‘MUTO’ and 'Her morning Elegance'. One I like is T-shirt War, because it’s funny and original.
